2011 Classic Africa

In March 2010 we’re running our first trip to South Africa and Lesotho.

Classic Africa is a 1500 mile on and off road adventure driving ‘bakkies’, which is the South African word for pick ups. In keeping with other Classic Journeys we’ll be avoiding many of the typical touristy hotspots and instead visiting several locations that visitors don’t normally see. A trip to Africa would not be complete without viewing big game and with this in mind we will be spending one night in a game park so we can participate in an overnight safari. We’ll also be visiting the Wild Coast, driving over the Drakensberg Mountains and seeing some fascinating old Boer War relics. They’ll be much more too but all the while you’ll have the freedom of being an independent traveller with your own vehicle.

We don’t drive in convoys. You will be provided with a professionally prepared route book and a modern GPS to guide you on your way.

Our first recce took place earlier this year and we’ll be going back to finalise the details early in the new year. Shortly after we’ll be publishing full details including cost and a detailed itinerary. If you want to be the first to know the details, fill in the details below and press submit.
