The Ambassador

The Hindustan Ambassador or ‘Ambi’ as it’s known in India was the first car to be manufactured in India and has been ruling the roads over there since its inception in 1948.

Based on an early Morris Oxford, the Ambassadoris still equipped with drum brakes and still has no power steering and no air conditioning. The models we use are equipped with a 1500cc diesel producing a whopping 37hp. It is a tough beast and ideally suited to Indian roads.

For those familiar with classic cars you will, no doubt, be delighted at the opportunity to drive a real British classic. For those of you not familiar you ought to bear in mind that, even though the cars we use are not that old, they feel and respond like an old classic car and as such require different driving techniques than that of a modern car in which you do little more than point and go. This will not present a problem for experienced drivers. For those of you with less experience don’t be concerned, as you will receive a full and detailed briefing.
