2008 Classic Europe
2008 Classic Europe - August 29th to September 4th. Open to any vehicle, modern, classic or even a banger. A wonderful six day tour across Europe, beginning in Calais and ending in Budapest.
Over the past 15 years I have participated in at least two European events each year. Using the knowledge gained from these trips I’ve put together a route which I believe combines some of the best driving roads coupled with some of Europe’s most spectacular scenery. Starting in Calais we head across northern France on quiet, rural roads before an overnight stop at Verdun. We then head south, over the Vosges mountains before descending to cross the Rhine and head into the beautiful Black Forest for the next nights stop. In the morning we drive along the edge of Lake Constance towards Bavaria and then we head south into Austria to satay the night just over the border in Austria. Hoping for good weather today we tackle the Grossglockner, the highest mountain pass in Austria and a chance to view one of Europes few glaciers. That night we’ll reach Slovenia, a real jewel, popular with Italian tourists but much unexplored by the British. After statying in the romantic city of Bled we’ll have a real easy day drving across Slovenia to the second largest city, Maribor. After a night out in the town, the next morning we’ll drive along the edge of Europes largest inland waterway, Lake Balaton and on up to Budapest for a lovely, traditional, hungarian night out. If you want to stay extra days in Budapest before heading home I can of course arrange extra nights accommodation.
The accommodation has been carefully selected, particularly with a view to vehicle security. Where neccessary we stay in accommodation with overnight security or locked car parks. All the hotels are of a good standard and vary from 2 to 5 star. Email us for more info.
See Entry Information for details of costs or the Itineraries page for more details on the route.
